Visit of the Sitka Icon
On September 23 and 24, 2005, St Paul's was blessed to host a visit of the
Sitka Mother of God Icon from the Cathedral of St Michael the Archangel in
Sitka, Alaska. This Icon is one of the greatest treasures of The Orthodox
Church in America, and is the source of many miracles and healings. The
Sitka Icon has been attributed to a famous Iconographer, Vladimir Lukich
Borovikovsky (1758-1826), a protégé of the Empress Catherine II, and has
been housed in the Archangel Michael Cathedral in Sitka, Alaska for 150
years. His Grace Bishop NIKOLAI of Alaska allowed the Icon to tour select
parishes throughout the United States, and we were chosen to be part of this
